Wedding programs are not mandatory, but they can be a great way for your guests to follow the ceremony and also take home as a reminder of your special day.  Your programs can be as simple or elaborate as you wish.  There are many styles to choose from and you can do-it-yourself and print them out on your own printer, or have them professionally made.  Some ideas are a one page program on decorated or colored cardstock, a small booklet, or a folded sheet of cardstock.

Traditionally included in wedding programs are:
  • Names of the bride and groom
  • Date, time, venue, and location of the wedding
  • City and state where the wedding is taking place
  • Names of musical selections
  • Names and authorship of readings
  • Names of musicians, singers, and readers
  • Names of the wedding party- Maid of Honor, Best Man, Bride’s attendants, Groomsmen, Ushers, Flower girl, Ring Bearer
  • Names of the bride and groom’s parents
  • The name of the officant
  • A brief thank you to all your guests

You may add optional wedding program contents such as

  • Quotes, poems, song lyrics, or bible verses
  • Dedications to deceased family or friends
  • Special thanks
  • Story of how you met
  • Photos
